Professor Richard Hartel was invited to the College of Agriculture and Life Science (CALS) Investiture Ceremony on Tuesday, September 26, 2023.

The William C. Winder Professorship in Food Science was established by William C. Winder, a CALS food scientist professor who retired in 1981, to support a food science faculty member whose efforts are devoted to teaching and research.

Richard Hartel is a professor in the Department of Food Science. Hartel studies phase transitions in foods such as ice cream and confections, an he is the director of the UW-Madison Resident Course in Confectionery Technology.
