Bio
Hi! My name is Owen Falconer, and I am a Junior in the Food Science program here at UW-Madison. I am from Oak Park, IL, just outside of Chicago, and my favorite food is duck.
I first got exposed to food science when I was nearing the end of high school where I started getting into fermentation and brewing at home through things like ginger beer and sourdough. Realizing my interest and the potential opportunities through the overlap was a big draw towards the program and having come up to Madison a lot when I was younger, my decision to come to Madison easy. Since then, I came to be involved in the Food Science Club as one of the previous outreach chairs for the club’s exec board, and worked to develop an ice cream flavor for the university with a team of peers during my freshman year.
Being involved in the club, the ice cream development team, and as a student ambassador for the department have been some of my greatest experiences thus far, and I’m excited to see what else I can do with the major.
