Bio
Hi! My name is Owen Falconer, and I am a sophomore in the Food Science program. I am from Oak Park, IL, just outside of Chicago. My favorite food/meal is sesame chicken, with miso-butter broccoli.
My earliest exposure to food science was near the end of high school, when I started getting into fermentation and brewing at home through things like sourdough, ginger beer, and hot honey. The interest and opportunity through the overlap between food and science was a big draw towards the program, and that made my decision to come to Madison easy. Since then, I’ve come to be involved in the Food Science Club and am now one of the current outreach chairs for the club, and an ambassador for the program.
My involvement above, and the involvement in developing an ice cream flavor for the university with a team of peers, have been some of my greatest experiences thus far, and I’m excited to see what else I can do with the major.
