Maye MacLean

Bio

Hi! My name is Maye MacLean, and I’m a sophomore in the food science program. My favorite food is chocolate croissants.

I originally chose to pursue food science because the town (Presque Isle, WI) I’m from is situated around 45 minutes from the nearest full-service grocery store. Growing up, I loved cooking and baking, so when I would inevitably run out of an ingredient, I would have to come up with creative substitutions. This process, in turn, sparked my curiosity about food science.

I’m further involved in the department as the outreach chair for the Food Science Club. Additionally, I work as an undergraduate research assistant in the Hartel Lab. Feel free to reach out with questions!
