Makala provides technical assistance for grants that improve the food system. After graduating from UW-Madison, she completed a two-year technical leadership development program at Mars Wrigley and discovered her passion for food justice during an AmeriCorps service year on the Nutrition Team at the Greater Chicago Food Depository. Outside of work, she served as a Summit Leader for the Chicago Food Policy Action Council’s 17th Annual Chicago Food Justice Summit and as a Slow Food Youth Network USA board member. Makala loves all things food. She believes in the necessity of weaving together people from all parts of the food system and the power of food to nourish our bodies, minds, planet, and future.
