EXTRA CURRICULAR
The clubs and extracurricular activities available for food science students incorporate professional and social interests.
The Food Science Club (FSC) is a learning community whose mission is “to bring together graduate and undergraduate students who share a common interest in Food Science and to also provide professional, educational, and social opportunities to its members”. The FSC is a member of the Institute of Food Technologist Student Association. Members participate in monthly meetings, industry tours and presentations, College Bowl, Product Development competitions, and many social and community activities.

Students learn the fundamentals of dairy products sensory evaluation while competing with students from other universities. After several months of training you will have learned the attributes associated with a particular dairy food and the fundamentals of sensory evaluation. In addition academic credits can be earned.

First established in 1956, Phi Tau Sigma is the honor society of food science and technology. The objectives of this organization are to recognize and honor the professional achievements of food scientists and technologists.
