My name is Mason Bielen. I’m a senior in the Food Science program and I’m big into making wine and cooking! My favorite food is probably salmon, but I’ll eat almost anything.
I started my freshman year in electrical engineering, but quickly realized that it wasn’t for me. I switched to food science because I’ve always been fascinated with what really happens to food when you cook it. I also used to watch the show ‘Good Eats’ with Alton Brown, and his simple explanations made me realize it wasn’t so scary to try to learn. Food science is fun, and we do plenty of hands-on learning. In labs we get to make bread, cheese, yogurt, jam, kimchi, and more. I highly recommend you check it out if you have a passion for food or cooking.
