Resources for Current Grad Students
The detailed graduate program requirements for Food Science students is described in the Requirements for Advanced Degrees Booklet.
A coursework program is developed in consultation with your major professor and the graduate student advisory committee. There are four different options for course work programs. The four options are Food Chemistry, Food Engineering, Food Microbiology and Safety, and Food Science. The form for the Certification of Course Program must be approved by the major professor and the graduate student advisory committee.
There are regular meetings of the graduate student advisory committee concerned with an individual student, see Requirements for Advanced Degrees Booklet for more details. A Student Progress Evaluation Form must be completed at/after each meeting and the previous form (if the committee has met previously) is brought to the next committee meeting.
General information about the food science department, UW-Madison, safety, etc is given in the Handbook for Graduate Students.
