Academic Conduct
We expect that all of your work will conform to the policies for academic conduct for this University. You are required to report issues of academic misconduct that you may discover. Please be aware that aiding another student in completing exams will be construed as cheating and is punishable under the code of academic misconduct.
If we receive email Monday - Friday, we will respond within 24 hours. If you do not hear back from us, it is your responsibility to send us the message again. Regarding weekends / holidays, we will respond within 24 hours of the next working day.
Exams & Grading
There are three midterm exams and a cumulative final (worth 100 points each). Points that you earn from the exams will be added together to determine your grade. You can also earn extra points from the practice exams in Learn@UW.
| A | 360-400 points |
| AB | 340-359 points |
| B | 320-339 points |
| BC | 300-319 points |
| C | 280-299 points |
| D | 250-279 points |
| F | 0-249 points |
You will have access to your Gradebook in Learn@UW so you can view your grade at any time.
NOTE: At the end of the semester, there will invariably be students whose numerical grade in the course is just below a letter grade cut-off. In order to be fair to all students, we will not change grades, once assigned, unless we make a grading error. There are no opportunities for extra credit projects that might boost one's score. Your final grade for the course is determined by your performance on the practice exams, midterms and final. The time to be concerned with your grade in this course begins on day one, not during the final weeks of the semester!
Exam Conflicts & McBurney Accomodations
If you have a conflict with an exam, you may request an alternate exam. All requests for alternate exams will be evaluated based on space availability and the nature of the conflict. Late requests will only be accommodated in an emergency. There are no alternates given for the final exam. Please plan ahead. McBurney students requesting accommodations must stop by Professor Ingham’s office at 115 Babcock Hall with a copy of their VISA. A deadline is generally given 2 to 3 weeks into the term. Every reasonable effort will be made to accomodate students on exam days.
Examination Review:
We retain all exam forms. You may review midterm exams during weekly office hours, or by appointment, for a period of two weeks after each midterm.. After that time, midterm exams are stored and are not available for review. Due to time constraints at the end of each term, final exams may not be reviewed.
Emergencies
It is your responsibility to notify us as soon as possible of any emergencies that arise during the term. Failure to do so may prevent us from allowing for a deadline extension or other appropriate action.
